Spiral antennas belong to the class of frequency independent antennas; these antennas are characterized as having a very large bandwidth. The properties like polarization, radiation pattern and impedance of such antennas remain unchanged over a large bandwidth. These antennas are usually circularly polarized and widely used in the defense industry for sensing applications, where wide band antennas which take up less space are required.
